Principal's Bio


Dr. Janet Sorrell loves learning and believes that a good education can make a positive difference in a child's life. Dr. Sorrell received a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University, a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Georgia College & State University, a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Sorrell had a career in the middle Georgia area for several years as a certified Diabetes Educator before she began teaching in Houston County. Dr. Sorrell was a science teacher at Northside High School for seven years before becoming the Assistant Principal for Instruction at Shirley Hills Elementary.  Dr. Sorrell was proud and honored to join the Parkwood family as Principal in 2013.
Dr. Sorrell married her college sweetheart, David, and they have two wonderful children, Michael and Stephanie. In her spare time, Dr. Sorrell enjoys reading, crocheting, and spending time with her family.
